Maru Character Reference

Name: Maru  (named after the Maori war God mostly known the the South Island)
Species: Mutated Feline
Gender: Male

Defining Physical Features: 

- Small, pale grey horns on his head
- Short tail
- Dark eye bags
- long black and white stripe down his back
- Big tear in left ear

He commonly mutates by growing an extra jaw, complete with teeth, gums and a tongue. Other ways he mutates is by obtaining small holes around his face, stomach and arms similar to trypophobia. 

Backstory:

Maru was an almost perfect animal soldier. According to the scientists that mutated and experimented on him, he has strong muscles, a quick thought process and most importantly, no fear.
However, due to the chemicals injected into him in order to give him the mental capability of a human, the incomplete concoction gave him a disorder known as conduct disorder. Meaning that he is prone to violent behavior and refuses to follow rules or commands if he doesn't desire to. This, combined with his lack of empathy for others he isn't close to, made him unable to go through basic training and out into the war zone. 

But this didn't make him entirely useless to the scientists. Instead, Maru was made to aid in combat training. His behavioral disorder and absence of empathy made it easy for him to fight and hurt other mutants who were going through basic training, as a practice opponent.  He would never attempt any attack on the humans though, he didn't see them as being worth it. 
Almost every day for months, Maru fought other mutants just like him, until one day when he began to feel resentment towards the people that controlled him, towards those who forced innocent animals into a war that wasn't theirs to fight. This resentment turned into hatred, then into action.
He refused to help train the other mutants, and when threatened, Maru violently lashed out. He ended up killing three of the scientists and injuring many more with weapons found in the combat station and his own teeth and claws. This bloody act of treason sentenced him a trip to No-Man's Land. Where he wouldn't be a threat to anymore human lives. That didn't bother Maru though. He was glad to get away from the cruel monsters that called themselves scientists. 

He now resides with Steamtrain and the other mutants in a large house in the decrepit land where they were all sentenced. Despite the circumstances as to why they were sent there, No-Man's Land is definitely a better and more welcoming place for them and Maru.
